The rscj in the District involved with youth ministry have been holding a yearly Youth Camp for young people in our ministries since 2000. This was one of the celebrations for our bicentenary.

For the first year we held it in Samar with young people from Cebu, Montalban and Manila joining our initial program for young people connected with rscj. In the next two years we held it at the novitiate in Montalban. Since we found the program very positive we decided to hold it on a larger scale in Cebu City in the university where Sandra works. From about 30 young people in the first 3 years, now we have about 170 youth benefiting from the program.

We have just finished our fifth RSCJ Summer Camp. The program has evolved from one module for all to a three-module program for three different groups. There is the leadership camp for the newcomers, the seminar retreat for the second-timers, and the retreat module for the more senior participants who have been with the camp for the last 3-4 years. The main theme of all the modules is the spirituality of the Sacred Heart: One Heart, One Mind in the Heart of Jesus, and Being the Heart of Christ in the world.

Reactions from the recently concluded RSCJ Youth Camp 2004:

The big blessing in "sharing" the love of the Heart of Jesus to the youth is that, in the end, we feel we receive more than them. This is what we have experienced. Seeing the movements of the Spirit among the young people inspires us to share more because we know that the whole experience of God is from the Spirit of Jesus. It is an experience of fulfilling our call to minister to the youth!

Congratulations to all the rscj sisters (Sr. Sandra, Sr. Sol, Sr. Minda, Sr. Sonia A., Sr. Sonia C., Sr. Sofie, Sr. Lydia)! Mga* superwomen of God. You have been God's instruments in changing the lives of almost 200 young people that includes me! Thank you for sharing the Heart and Mind of Jesus to us. And thank you for the opportunity to serve with you. It is really life-changing and enriching.
Nakaka**-overwhelm to imagine all the young people who attended the youth camp reaching their full potential...becoming more human and fully alive in Christ!

Daghang salamat!
