Contemplation
I have come
From ancient caves
And caverns
Where I discovered fire.
I came out to light
And air and speech
And thought
To share my gift
By writing sparks
In words which then
Would burn
In a creative blaze
Like the bush
Which Moses saw
And said how it
Would be a sacred sign.
I find instead
That it has taken
All my care
To merely keep
A small and silent
Flame alive
For seeing in the night.
