I am the fifth child in a family of ten. I had a very happy and secure childhood growing up in the South of England. There was not much money around but always plenty of fun. I was brought up a Catholic and always felt loved by God as well as my parents.

As a young adult I trained to teach at Digby Stuart College and that is where I met the Society. The RSCJ struck me as strong, independent women and I soon realised that I needed to try my vocation. My first ten years in religious life were spent happily teaching and I joined the probation of 1983 after 6 very challenging months in the Uganda/Kenya Province.

As a newly professed, I joined the staff of Digby Stuart College and stayed at Roehampton for 21 years. This was a very formative time for me, intellectually and spiritually. Being a religious in a secular / ecumenical university was a constant journey of questioning and re-defining my beliefs. I loved all my years at Roehampton and it meant a great deal to me to be in the place where so many RSCJ had given service to the Society.

Since 2007, I have been Treasurer for the England / Wales province. This has been a different challenge but one which has drawn me deeper into thinking about issues of social justice and community of goods.

Now I have been asked to prepare to take over from Mieko as Treasurer General in 2010. I am excited although a little apprehensive about this challenge. My main apprehension is that I struggle with other languages. I am going to learn some more Spanish, and once I have mastered this I will try French. In all of this, I am relying on Jesus who always says "make your home in Me, as I make mine in you".
