The following Civil Society Statement was presented during the 49th session of the UN Commission for Social Development (9-18 February 2011). It is a good example of the work of the NGO Committee for Social Development.
Launch of "UN Women"
The official launch of UN Women – United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, took place on February 24, 2011. Under the motto “We are UN Women” a festive evening unfolded – it was joyful in atmosphere, feminine in colors, and promise-inspiring because of the energy.

Report of the DPI/NGO Conference 2010 in Melbourne
The 63rd Annual DPI/NGO Conference entitled Advance Global Health: Achieve the Millennium Development Goals took place in Melbourne 30 August – 1 September, 2010. Anne Corry rscj, a member of the province of Australia-New Zealand, attended the conference and wrote the following report.
Annual DPI/NGO Conference 2010 in Melbourne, Australia
In less than a month the annual DPI/NGO Conference will take place under the title Advance Global Health: Achieve the MDGs. After Paris (2008) and Mexico City (2009), it is now Melbourne, Australia, which will host this premier NGO event. From 30 August to 1 September, hundreds of participants will gather to learn, network and exchange views and ideas on global health issues.
