A warm-up activity |
We want to tell you about the children’s colonies held these past weeks in the country, in Verrettes and in Alè. There were two sessions of two weeks, each with one hundred boys and girls. There were monitors, coordinators, assistants, cooks, and two RSCJ. We were in areas where there is no water, and it is necessary to bring it in, filter it, and chlorinate it in order to be able to drink it. Ten-year-old girls arrived with a heavy bucket of water on their heads, and others of the same age helped them take it down. |
The experience was such a joy! The children were divided into ten families that held four workshops all day.
| Besides activities together, there was prayer at the beginning and end of each day, and food in abundance! There was a value or basic attitude for each day: liberty, truth, love, compassion, joy, justice….and in the Church workshop, everyone studied the parable of the Prodigal Son and tried to become familiar with this generous father. There were games, days of celebration, meetings with their parents, and graduation for those who were twelve years old and had done the whole program. Everything was planned and prepared many months in advance by Timoun Tet Ansanm (Children United), which is the program that RSCJ have been part of since its beginnings. We began each day at 7:30 in the morning with meetings for the monitors, and ended at 3:30 in the afternoon. |

Children creating theatre |
During every two week period, we had two hours of formation in the afternoon for five girls who are accompanying us and are in vocational discernment. They also had a Sunday of silent retreat. It was very beneficial. We ended tired but happy. In a country where people suffer from a lack of good pastors who look out for the common good, it was very consoling to see that in Timoun Tet Ansanm the children have pastors who watch over them and know how to bring them to good pastures (Ezek 34). |

ABRAZOS GRANDES Cecilia.
English : Hello, Josefa and Esperanza. Thank you for sharing a little of what you are doing with the children in Haiti. I would like to ask you how often you have these children’s camps, how they are organised, etc. This is because here in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, each year we have a summer camp for boys and girls from the local community and young people from an international social service group come, and I was wondering whether we could set up some sort of contact between individual children. We are anxious to link our children up with other groups. Thanks again for your sharing. A big hug from Cecilia.
