June 4: Pentecost
Receiving and opening to the Spirit
through connecting to the colours.
On Pentecost Sunday, as we come to the end of our Easter Celebration we remember again how we sought to connect in with the fruits of the Spirit during our Lenten preparation. (Visit our prayer of the colours in March and April, or individually below)
We invite you again today to open yourself to the gift and fruits of the spirit by connecting with the spiritual energies of the colours.
The colour red
We link with the gift of knowledge, of knowing that we are called to give life, through our bodies, our sexuality and our creative energy expressed through our hands and our feet. We allow ourselves to find joy in life and to be in touch with our life flow and force.
The colour orange
We link with the gift understanding, of understanding that we are deeply loved and valued as we are, not as we would like ourselves to be and we allow ourselves to grow in self affirmation and self awareness.
The colour yellow
We link with the gift of courage, the gift to take risks in creativity and in relationships, to forgive and to keep going despite failure. We open ourselves to these energies which enable us to form liberating relationships with our enemies, including the enemies which dwell within our own psyche.
The colour green
We link with the gift of reverence, which we express as compassionate or caring love. We open ourselves to that energy which enables us like Christ to be lovingly interpersonal, to react emotionally without blocking, to reach out in friendship and to empathise with others.
The colour blue
We link with the gift of Right Judgement, of knowing how to build up and bring about the Kingdom of God in our world. We open ourselves to discover the power within us to choose wisely, to want and to commit ourselves to bring what we want into being.
The colour deep blue or indigo
We link with the gift of wisdom, of being able to grasp or understand the world from a universal or God perspective, of being able to find meaning and purpose in life. We allow ourselves to be filled with this gift of wisdom.
The colour purple
We link with the gift of wonder and awe in the presence of God, with our ability to have a sense of connection with God, of being able to discover God and his action in our own lives and in the people we’re with, in the joys and sorrows, the surprises and disappointments that we experience.
Set us on fire with your Spirit Lord and fill us with your love this Pentecost.
