Opening Hymn:   In the Likeness of Jesus    (From Celtic Songs)
         I am bending my knee in the eye of the Father who made me,
         In the eye of the Son who redeemed me;
         In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me;
         And I’m asking the THREE that my living shall be
         In the likeness of Jesus, my Lord:

                  In His love towards God, the affection of God,
                  and the smile of God in this place;
                  In the wisdom of God, and the will of God,
                  to make this earth a holy place.

         Oh, Christ be with me, in my sleeping and in my awaking;
         And Christ be with me in my rising;
         And may Christ be with me in my growing;
         And I’m asking the THREE that my living shall be
         In the likeness of Jesus, my Lord:

                  In His love towards God, the affection of God,
                  and the smile of God in this place;
                  In the wisdom of God, and the will of God,
                  to make this earth a holy place.

         And I’m bending my knee in the eye of the Father who made me,
         In the eye of the Son who redeemed me;
         In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me;
         And I’m asking the THREE that my living shall be
         In the likeness of Jesus, my Lord.

Reflection: (Seasons of Your Heart, Macrina Wiederkehr, p. 63)
           “I am touched to the core with a presence I can not explain.
         A loving plan enfolds me;
         Someone is always believing in me,
         calling me forth, calling me on.
         I am standing in grace, filled with mystery, touched with the eternal.
         I cannot get away from goodness.
         I think we name you “God”.

         You surround me like a gentle breeze.
         My idols live on in my life.
         My inconsistent values stay.
         My immaturity walks beside me.
         My sin is ever before me.
         Your love for me stays the same.
         I tremble in the face of such graciousness.
         Your reverence for me astounds me.
         You breathe out hope — and I catch on...”    (Quiet Reflection)

Reading:    Col. 1: 28-29
         “The mystery is Christ among you, your hope of glory.
           This is the Christ we proclaim...
           It is for this (we) struggle on, helped only by his power, driving us                    irresistibly.”      (Quiet Reflection)

Gifts and Reflection:   Each one receives a ‘gift’ from the tray.
What difference would it make in commmunity and in ministry, if you received this gift more fully?

Sharing

Intercessions:    Let us pray for these gifts for the whole Church:

For the gift of vision                               .
   that we may see with heaven’s eyes
   so that people will be safe
   in our presence.
         Give us your vision.  (Pause)

For the gift of stability
   that we may be able to
   stay with the Gospel
   in times of discouragement.
        Give us your stability.  (Pause)

For the gift of conviction                          .
 that we become
 the song of the gospel
   Your Word made flesh in us.
       Give us your conviction.  (Pause)

For the gift of hope
  that we may stand on tiptoe
  with the whole world,
  waiting for rebirth, growth.
       Give us your hope.          (Pause)

For the gift of compassion                      .
    that we may always be
    a healing presence
    bending low to wash feet and touch wounds.
         Give us your compassion.  (Pause)

For the gift of reverence
   that we may hold sacred
   the gift of each person,
 ever proclaiming the value
 of all of creation.
       Give us your reverence  (Pause)

For the gift of poverty
 that we may be
 at home with emptiness,
 a willing space for God.
      Give us your poverty.     (Pause)

 Finally, we pray for the grace
 to recognize each gift as it is given,
 receive it as gift, and acknowledge
 it as mine to give away.
       Give us your own self-giving.  (Pause)

                                                                                              Closing Prayer:
Faithful God, you have lavished us with love.  Keep us ever mindful that you keep your promises.  On our difficult days, help us to remember that you are a refuge for those who need shelter, a comfort for those who feel empty and poor in spirit.  On our joyful days, fill us with a deep sense of thanksgiving as we experience your everlasting love.  Help us to share your graciousness with all those who need a touch of generous love.   We ask this through Christ, our Risen Lord.   Amen.

Blessing     May the God of the present moment be with you, slowing you down,
                  revealing to you the sacred gift hidden in each moment of your                           day;
and may you develop a reflective heart, able to touch the precious mystery of life and living.
                          May the blessing of the present moment be upon you.

We used it for community prayer. Eight were present and all shared their reflection on the gift received, age bracket 60s to 90s. As sharing in prayer is not our strong point, it was amazing how we could share. Thank you very much. Tsutako Tanaka, rscj. Dai-ni Community, Tokyo
