Live web cast From September 7-9, 2005, over 2,000 NGO representatives and civil society partners from around the world will gather at UN Headquarters in New York for the 58th Annual DPI/NGO Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is “Our Challenge: Voices for Peace, Partnerships and Renewal”. Focus of the conference will be progress made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), peace and security, human rights, and UN reform.
The Conference addresses the most critical issues identified in the report of the Secretary-General In Larger Freedom: Towards Development, Security and Human Rights for All, which outlines the agenda for the historic Summit of world leaders which will take place one week later, September 14-16, 2005. Five RSCJ (from India, Ireland, Japan, Peru and Spain) and fifteen IBVMs (the JPIC Coordinators of all IBVM Provinces) will join Cecile Meijer, Joan Kirby and Evanne Hunter at the DPI/NGO Conference in New York. Others can follow the proceedings through live “web cast” on their own computer. An elaborate interactive web site - www.undpingoconference.org – enables online participants to follow the plenary proceedings, participate in a discussion forum, and address questions to panel speakers. The conference program is available online in English and French. The live web cast of all plenary sessions will be archived. |
