April 16: Easter  Sunday

The colour purple

Georgie Blaeser rscj

Easter Sunday resonates with the energy of the Risen Christ. Throughout Lent, from Ash Wednesday, we have been focussing on the spiritual energies in life and their corresponding colours in the rainbow, as a way of opening ourselves to connecting with the Divine presence among us.

The energy we are tapping into this week is the energy of Transcendent Consciousness, or the ability to have a sense of connection with God and God’s Kingdom. It is associated with the colour purple in the rainbow.

This energy enables us
To help ourselves and others to see through conflicts to their resolution.
To view events from an eternal perspective.
To transcend time and death.
This energy  enters us through the crown of the head and is associated with God as Father.(just as the heart energy is associated with God as Mother or, Christ.)
This energy is blocked
When we lose our sense of connection with God.
When we find prayer and meditation are meaningless and we prefer to get lost in the busyness of everyday affairs.
When we close ourselves off from freedom, or creative exploration in the areas of awareness, behaviour or relationships.

When these energies are flowing in our lives
We have the ability to broaden our perspectives and overcome prejudice.
We have the capacity for transcendent, or God, experiences
We can help ourselves and others deal with paradox and live within apparent contradiction
These spiritual gifts, fruits of the Spirit, are sources of energy, which can be activated in our lives
to do that
we need to recognize them,
                       use them and
                       develop them more fully.
We need to be aware of these energies in our lives.

During each week of Lent,
we have focussed on the key kinds of spiritual energies
we need and use,
and on the colour associated with each one.

This week – this Easter week – remembering and celebrating the Risen Presence of our God among us, we focus on the energy of Transcendent, or God Consciousness, associated with the colour purple.

To become aware of this energy and our need for it, it may help, and we invite you this week,
as you relax in the joy of Easter,
to allow yourself to focus on, or just to notice, the colour purple and as you do
we invite you open yourself to the releasing of God’s freedom and energy in your life
We invite you to open yourself to the outpouring of this transcendent spirit and sense of connectedness with the Divine – Father, Risen Christ, or Mother - into your life.
We encourage you to open yourself to the voice of the Father/Mother reminding you that you are a son or daughter of God.
Ask God for the grace to realise that the kingdom is within you and among us.

And as we go through the Easter season we encourage you
to enjoy the colours of life and of the rainbow through which we have related to God during Lent.

We encourage you
to continue to open yourself to the energy of the spirit consciously in prayer through the colour that holds most energy or attraction for you:

Red – with its life-transmitting energies
Orange – with its self valuing and self- awareness energies
Yellow – with its gift of courage despite discouragement or despair.
Green – with the energy of compassionate love.
Sky Blue – releasing mental and spiritual creativity to build God’s kingdom.
Indigo – with its gift of wisdom and discernment in decision-making, and finally
Purple – with the gift of being able to sense our connectedness to God – the divine.

Through whichever colour you choose these weeks of Easter, allow yourself to enjoy the risen, loving and creative presence of God in our lives, inviting the power of God’s Spirit to flow in your life, in our life and in our world.
