March 1 Ash Wednesday

“Therefore a body You have prepared for me"
a mystery to be explored
so familiar that I do not even know where to begin to unravel it.
Alas my flesh and I are not yet one.
We oppose each other
or else are ill at ease together.
My Lord, give me some insight of Your own 'oneing' with the human body,
with all the pain, exhilaration, power and weakness
it will force me to experience.
Teach me above all,
that in my flesh and through my flesh,
the ultimate darkness and confusion is overcome;
that gentleness will conquer death;
that my body is made for life, for love, for ever.
