Prayer of the colours: blue the energy to decide – to build god’s kingdom Georgie Blaeser rscj Energy, as we say, is the ability to do something and there are three types of energy -physical, mental and spiritual. This week the energy we tap into is the spiritual energy associated with the Spirit and the Will. It links with the Kingdom of God and how to bring that about. We use this energy when we discover power within ourselves when we choose effectively and wisely when we make personal commitments. This energy is located in the throat, from where we speak our truth. We block this energy When we resist or avoid making decisions When we can not see what would or would not promote God’s kingdom When we can not carry out even simple decisions When we cannot exercise our own authority. These spiritual gifts, fruit of the Spirit are sources of energy, which can be activated in our lives to do that we need to recognize them, use them and develop them more fully. We need to be aware of these energies in our lives. During each of the weeks of Lent, we have focussed on the key kinds of spiritual energies we need and use, and on the colour associated with each one. This week, we focus on the energy of the will/ability - the Spirit- to build the kingdom, symbolized by the colour blue To become aware of this energy and our need for it, it may help, and we invite you this week to focus on the colour blue. to wear something blue, to decorate things with blue. to notice the colour blue in nature, ads. and people, particularly to soak in the blue of the sky, or the sea. Each time you notice the colour blue, open yourself to the energy of the spirit consciously in prayer, invite the power of God’s Spirit to flow in your life and in our world. Another possible way to invite the God’s Spirit to flow is to repeat in a mantra fashion “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done” from the Our Father. Eileen Lawless rscj Province of Ireland - Scotland
