February 19, 2006 - Day of Reflection and Prayer for Uganda

On January 20, 2006, the Association of the Major Superiors of Religious Institutes in Uganda (AMSRIU) issued a statement in which they invite “all religious and all seekers of peace-in-justice and brotherhood for our country to a public day of reflection and prayer” for Uganda on Sunday, February 19, 2006.

The objective of their statement is “to join in the effort of reflection and action of all those who seek to know and live by the truth which will set us all free in order to be able to work for peace-in-justice and brotherhood in our country.” The statement addresses five essential areas of concern for Uganda today:
  • consolidating the democratic process;
  • thee Northern-Eastern conflict;
  • the fight against corruption;
  • the consequences of the ruling against Uganda by the International Court of Justice (ICJ);
  • the forthcoming elections.

The text of the full statement can be found at www.africamission-mafr.org/anbbia217.htm.

The Uganda-Kenya province asks us to join them in prayer on this day.
