Floods in BIHAR, Northern India |

Floods caused due to torrential rains in the upper catchment areas of Bihar and the border with Nepal during the last week of June has affected 20 districts of the Indian state of Bihar. The situation worsened in the first week of July with the release of water from Nepal, raising the water level of major rivers, which overflowed at several places and inundated thousands of villages and rendered more than a million people homeless. A total of 21.17 million people have been affected by these floods so far. Human death toll in the ongoing floods is 636 Road and rail communication has been severely disrupted.
