The Sophia Shree B.K. Somani Polytechnic is a vocational Institute for Women, although there are several young men in our department of Hotel Administration and Food Technology (H.A.F.T.).

The Polytechnic offers several full time professional courses:

• 5 year course in Applied Art
• 3 year course in Textile Design
• 3 year course in Fashion Design
• 2 year course in H.A.F.T.
• 1year post graduation course in Social Communications Media
• 1 year post graduation course in Travel and Tourism
• 1 year course in Pre-school Teacher Training
• 1 year course in Craft Bakery

Some of these courses are recognised by the government, others are Institute courses.

The Fashion Designing students have 2 fashion shows of their garments. The final year garments of the students are modeled by professionals and is a big affair !

The Annual Exhibition of 4 days, always held in the last weekend of February, showcases the work of the students. Besides parents, friends and other visitors, professionals from different fields come to see the work and often want to employ our students straight after their exams !
