Integrity of Creation

God created the human person in His image and likeness Gen.1: 26-27.  God created us and still continues to create each person in a perfect way.  The mind, the soul, the body, the whole of the PERSON is united in a unique way.  There is perfect symmetrical pattern for the parts of the body: left and right side.  It is so marvelous to see each person with an eye on the right side and an eye on the left side, limbs on the right side and limbs of the left side, each fixed it its place.  A hand is not fixed at the back of the body neither a leg in the upper part of the body.  Isn’t a human being a Master piece of God’s creation?

In the beginning when God created the world, God saw it and was pleased; the space with air, light, sky, planets and the stars; the earth with plants, animals and human beings; the rivers and the oceans with fish.  Whatever God desired, it came into being.  The whole of the universe is the fruit of God’s love, desire and wisdom.  God desired that human beings be superior to the whole of creation.  God bestowed love, intelligence and freedom upon human beings.  These are plus points of human beings.

The human person is called to participate in God’s on-going creative action.  God created the world and gave it to human beings to master it, to care for it and to add and to multiply it.  Thus human beings are journeying with God within history and contributing to its progress.  We are collaborators in the ongoing creative and transforming action in the world.  For this we are expected to use our intelligence, love and freedom.

There is truth, goodness and beauty in everything that God created.  When God gave the stewardship of creation to human beings, it was this truth, goodness and beauty that God wished us to create, not unreality or ugliness.  We appreciate the new inventions in every sphere of life especially in science, medicine and technology.  It’s really marvelous to see how human beings have used their gifts and transformed the world exteriorly. Think of early ancient civilization and their way of living then, and the multi-cultural, materialistic civilization of today.  There is a big difference.  But in all times truth, goodness and beauty has to prevail.  Here we cannot forget our origin, that we are created in the image of God and that we are collaborators with God in creation.

Today we human beings have made many discoveries in Science and technology.  They are good for physical growth, economic development and so on.  These are the miracles of one’s creation.  Through these miracles we must glorify God.  They must lead us to God our Master Creator and reveal truth, beauty and goodness to the whole of humankind.

God is Truth, Goodness and Beauty; when this mystery is revealed in and through our creation in the universe and when each person perceives this in the innermost depth of their heart, then truly human beings have become co-creators and collaborators with God.
