Since
the last update on 5 February the three other African provincials have returned
safely to their provinces.
Rather
than leaving the country after the evacuation of the other RSCJs from
N'Djamena, Asunta Clausen and Juliette N'guémta were able to return
to the community building that is on the campus of the secondary school. They
immediately began to have meetings with representatives of the teachers,
parents, etc. to see how to proceed. The most urgent task was to see to the
removal of unexploded missiles from the property and assure the safety of the
classrooms still standing.
Today,
25 February, classes began for the two highest classes who are preparing for
state examinations. The other classes will resume as soon as possible. Asunta
and Juliette are having a week of rest in the other two communities further
south.
Our
sisters of both Chad
and Uganda-Kenya are immensely grateful to the Society throughout the world for
the support and prayer they have felt these past weeks. Please continue praying
for the political situation of Chad
which is not yet resolved, as well as for Kenya whose difficult peace process
is well documented in the press.
