Religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (rscj) met in Peru from July 16 to August 20, 2008, to share, celebrate and discern orientations for their life and mission (General Chapter). This mission is lived and shared with many lay people in the 43 countries where the Society is present.

There was a wealth of expression in dance, song, symbolic gesture and images at this intercultural meeting… There are too, the texts of the Chapter which are in the process of being translated.

The Chapter did not begin with us. Let it not end with us.
We seem to have arrived at a different moment in the Chapter. Fewer people have time to gather socially. The corridors and gathering places seem empty at night.  Most people are off in small groups, late into the night, putting what we hope are the finishing touches on the fruits of our five weeks of dialogue and discernment before documents go for a final writing then approval.
