December 25: Christmas Day 

Christmas

Shekinah comes
asking hospitality again.
The cry No Room
that gloomed in melancholy syllables
and sifted the centuries
down,

rumbles still. But
the dark is not impenetrable.
In ecumenical gladness
we see the mist
lift.

We catch silver, gold,
an amethyst of light.
And Shekinah
in prismed glory
flings back the tent flap.
The bright womb of Miriam yields
EmmanueL
And a hundredfold of joy
sings across the stars.
We stable now in Eucharistic warmth
the Word
spoken in a covenant of Love.
He will return no more
to walk the dark,
but spills
Fire:
Jew, Buddhist, Moslem, Greek,
the Separated Brotherhood all
One
in the final Advent
of glad Charity.
