May is the month when usually we have First Communion in Poland. In my community three of us prepare the children, so almost every Sunday we have a First Communion celebration. This is followed by follows the “White Week”, a week when children come to the church for the daily Eucharist.

I like this time when children wait for their first meeting with Jesus, especially when they are aware that the moment is near because they can count the days. I prepare children both for First Confession and First Communion. I am always touched by their sincerity, confidence, simplicity and love of God.

This year when children from my school had their White Week we also celebrated the feast of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. After Mass the children received small pictures of her, with special prayer to help them in their study. They remember how she loved children, as Jesus did, and believe that now she helps students when they ask for help. Now, we are on holidays, so I suppose St Madeleine Sophie can rest, but in September she will be very busy again…
