To Saint Andrew Daekun Kim
Dear Andrew Kim, the first priest of Korea,
We love you very much. We are so proud of you. You studied in Macau and returned to your homeland after your ordination. But our country did not welcome you because of its closed political policies.
You were seized by the government and martyred. You could not do much pastoral work but you gave your life for the Korean church. Your strong faith and endurance during persecution gave us a strong foundation. You are to us an example of living the faith.
Because of you and your companions the number of followers of Christ in Korea is increasing, and today there are many religious vocations. May we learn from you how to love God with our whole hearts, more than the many attractions that the world offers us today.
Intercede for us that we may remain faithful in our love for God, for our people, for our world.
