Levántate contra de la pobreza
Un grupo de alumnas y profesores del Colegio del Sagrado Corazón de Concepción, Chile, concientes de las grandes cifras de pobreza que hay en el planeta, formaron la agrupación ANUM (Agrupación Nuevo Milenio), con el fin de fomentar los 8 Objetivos del Milenio propuestos por las Organización de las Naciones Unidas, institución que tiene como meta reducir a la mitad el número de pobres en el mundo para el año 2015.

Tuve la oportunidad de visitar a las Hermanas Vicentinas que tienen su comunidad en Pisco (lugar del epicentro). La idea era ir desde el sábado temprano y dormir allá, pero el mismo viernes por la noche nos avisaron que no había espacio, pues la capilla donde ahora duermen todas las hermanas estaba llena y las carpas ocupadas por los jóvenes voluntarios.

How many of us can claim they have actually known a canonized saint? Some of us rscj in Malta, including the undersigned, can make such a claim! And certainly all the Maltese rscj knew him, at least by reputation, before they entered. For decades before he died in 1962 people were regarding him as a saint, and men and women from all walks of life respected and loved him, and sought his spiritual advice.

When we celebrated our 100 years of the Society in Australia in 1982, there was much pomp and great excitement among the thousands who gathered in St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney.

There has been an unpredictable change in the weather conditions in the recent past. On June 1st the newspapers reported that the delayed monsoon in Bihar this year would pose a serious threat to standing crops and bring about a reduction in groundwater level. And so the prayers went up to appease rain gods.

Caritas Internationalis et le groupe des promoteurs « Justice, paix et intégrité de la création » à Rome viennent de publier un document de 29 pages intitulé Rompre avec la routine : atteindre les Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement. Ce qu’il y a d’intéressant dans cette brochure maniable et claire, d’accès facile, c’est qu’elle examine les OMD sous l’angle de la doctrine sociale de l’Eglise et selon la méthode Voir – Juger – Agir.
