The meeting of the provincials of Europe and the delegates to the General Chapter ( twenty people in total), facilitated by Hanni Woitsch, took place on the afternoon of 14 and morning of 15 July.

As you enter the Chapter room, you see on the wall facing you a big logo of the Society 'drawn' with hats of all shapes and sizes. Sophie’s hat, the one Phil Kilroy used on the cover of her 'Life', is at the top, the others following behind as if in following Sophie's leadership the members of the Society 'shape' the Heart of Christ round the world. Sophie's hat was put in place by Clare Pratt, the rest by each of the 32 provinces present at the Chapter.

Report of the Canzus Region

The CANZUS (Canada–Australia/New Zealand-United States)region met on July 15.  We began with a Scripture reading from Isaiah 55: 10 – 11 followed by the song “This Ancient Love” by Carolyn McDade.

African Regional Meeting

On 14th of July 2008, the nine chapter delegates from the African region gathered in Lima in the space where we met as African region, and we prayed together and got to know more about each other. The main purpose of our meeting was to reach a common message which the region would share with the rest of our sisters in the chapter.

As we meet and seek together, we feel the same hunger, and it is the same bread that satisfies us.

On July 13-14, at the threshold of the General Chapter, we held our reunion of the Latin American region. Peru was our immediate setting, and sisters from all over the world were staying in the house, emphasising our Latin American character as part of the international Society.

The meeting of the delegates from the Asian region was characterised by honest sharing, serious listening, space for reflection, and much laughter and camaraderie as well. We began on the 13th of July with each one introducing herself, sharing not only her name and her ministry but also where she was at this moment in her life and what she hoped for from the Chapter.
